Pension Camping in Romania Seth and Hollys review

Posted by borlova on April 10, 2008

Heres exactly What Seth and Holly thought of the village and pension in borlova

the original can be seen on the travel log. here

Romania

Our stay in Romania didn’t start off on the best foot but got better. We crossed into Romania onto a road in the midst of construction with newly funded EU money. To make matters worse it was a major trucking route. We were ready to make our stay in Romania a short one when we arrived in the village of Borlova. Holly read of a pension in this farming village so we road to check it out. Rolling throught the village there were more farm animals in the streets then cars and no sign for a pension. Having almost given up hope we asked a couple of kids sitting in front of the market, “Pension?” One knew a little english and explained that the family of his friend here had a pension and that he would take us to it. He hopped on his bicycle and took us back to one of the first houses we passed where we still didn’t see a sign. We ended up camping on the lawn outside the pension for two nights. The stay there totally rejuvenated our spirit toward Romania. The village was nestled up a valley in the foothills of the Carpathian mountains. It was still for the most part a farming village where the work was done by hand. The village was mostly self sufficient where the bartering system was still alive and well. Eggs for milk, grain for honey. I went shopping in the market one morning to come to find out it doesn’t sell milk. When asked we were told there were enough cows to support the village so there is no need for the market to sell milk. The kindness of our hosts at the pension supported our theory that as you gained elevation people get nicer. One of our hosts was a Brit somewhat adopted (long story) by the owners who knew Romanian. So we could freely communicate which was a treat. But the best part of our stay there had to be our host mom’s cookin. WOW!! If we didn’t have to be in Hungary in a weeks time we probably would have stayed longer, but alas. On our second morning we set off with rain clouds overhead. For the next four days we road through the foothills of the Carpathian mountains. We probably should have enjoyed the lovely scenery and nice roads more but we spent much of this time dodging rainclouds and then trying to get rid of a nasty 24 hour bug that we passed to each other. This and the fact the Tour de France was now in the Alps gave us a good excuse to stay at some of Romania’s many affordable pensions with satellite TV ( a night’s stay with breakfast is about the same cost as camping in Corsica). So our routine in Romania was to ride to the next town and search out a pension. Once there, ask to see the room and then verify that they had Eurosport on the TV. Go to the store to buy beer and dinner. Eat dinner and drink beer in bed while watching the Tour. Soon after the Carpathian mountains we entered into Hungary.

More Gumff from Norwich

Posted by borlova on April 9, 2008

Well as i am page one number one for “Gumff in Norwich” on google i have to smile and be happy i just wonder how long it will last? it was posted a few hours later there it was. i rate pretty high for Dyslexic SEO as well :-) ohh isnt life boring sometimes enough of these silly games

Still not exactly earth shattering news.

My friends in Borlova are playing host to a couple from Norwich travelling through Romania on their way to Greece. I am Hoping their stay at the pension  in Borlova was ok.

Today another couple arrive from Australia not bad for a small bed and breakfast in a sleepy little village in the countryside in Romania. Since i promoted Borlova on the web they have had visitors they wouldn’t normally expect like, Seth and Holly from The states on a bike tour of Europe, they found the BnB on line.

If you think its an accident that Borlova is getting web exposure think again its been a passion of mine to promote the place, one day when i go back to see how my efforts have paid off i will sit back and drink a glass or two with my friends there and relish in the knowledge i did help get Borlova on the tourist map.

I would really love to get paid for doing what i Do, I actually spooked wordpress a little..they thought i had paid content on this blog but i dont.
This blog is done purely as an interest and of course i play around with organic SEO techniques hopefully to my advantage, after all if i cant get found for SEO in Norwich through this blog then i dont have a chance doing it for someone else for other search terms.
As any one looking for work should do they should try to show by example what they can achive, i have not put the SEO subject up on the blog that long.
Since i started to look for work in Norwich in the area of search engine optimisation 4 weeks ago i thought this was a way i could show some of my skills and talent, after all i have nothing to lose by this it can only bring in offers of work for an internet marketing company in Norwich or Jobs for a freelance worker in SEO

I haven’t even bothered Tagging this post as an experiment to see how it does on its own back currently i rank page 2 pos 18 on google for the search term SEO Norwich this blog has a PR of 3 i am curious to see the effect of this post.

Since around 2000 i have had an interest from a commercial point of view in ranking web sites in google and the rest, i started my own business (now closed) on the back of the internet, and spent many hours researching the subject of SEO to gain top position for my site. i then had a good understanding of the way the algos worked, but in time these have changed and developed and keeping up with the trends is a constant job. I am experimenting with natural content with no tricks purely organic, this blog has only 3 incoming links and gets a lot of spam attacks, maybe you have to question why is this is it because its a natural blog and gets good PR ? who knows, the reason why people try to spam in a vain attempt to get links when sheerly just making a natural post with out being spammy works much better. I am of the opinion that certain techniques are old hat yet people still believe some of the myths about how to get yourself found on the web, a long time ago the discussion about natural writing was the buzz in the industry, its still true good content is what customers want to read, but also using the text to SEO Advantage is another thing. Getting found is one thing converting your customers and holding them on your web site is another thing the combination of web design and SEO is a must for any Business serious about a web presence. There are thousands of companies wishing to be number one on the web search engines the competition is massive, gaining position is one thing but holding it there constantly is a task.

For me its been a passion and a task 3 years ago i was turned down for a job in SEO by a company in Norwich who were just getting into SEO at the time they had some Nice looking web sites and some good clients, but they knew they needed to get more on top of the SEO they were making too much use of PPC and  other methods of paid advertising and not getting organic results, at interview they didnt spend time asking me too many questions about SEO they were more interested to talk to me about PPC campaigns, which i told them i didnt think were the be all and end all of getting found on the web…well that killed it and they stopped the interview and i left…I got annoyed with the attitude of them at interview and set about thew challenge of competing for the search term….i got up quick on the search engines and knocked their position down a lot..i expect they got a bit annoyed too as then they really started to have a battle with me and upped the anti…well after a while i got bored with the game and left them too it…But since then i have continued with my efforts to keep on top of the SEO subject and continue to work at it. I will do this for my benefit and satisfaction as there are people out there that need this type of service, Norwich is a small city and has a lot of web design companies in it The internet is a huge arena in which to play, and i like a challenge i also get a buzz from getting sites found. I love to play with words to see what i can do with a search term, i think Dyslexic SEO was one i tried and it worked, spelling things wrong on purpose is not exactly black hat,it does work obviously you dont want a site with bad spelling but if you have a very hard search term a little miss spelling can help in the right context though.

Still i am prattling on about a load of Gumff so i will drop the subject for now and wait to see the results ;-)
